Betfred British Masters launches campaign rehoming golf equipment to injured Ukrainians

At this week’s Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at The Belfry, the DP World Tour is inviting fans to donate any new or used golf equipment when on-site, which will then be sent to Ukraine in partnership with the Ukraine Golf Federation.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, over 30,000 civilians and more than 400,000 soldiers have been injured. For the past three golf seasons, golf clubs in Kyiv and Lviv have welcomed weekly groups of patients after amputations and prosthetic treatment. Many of them, trying a golf swing for the first time, discover golf – a sport they never knew – and experience a powerful transformation: finding new purpose, new joy, and a way forward. However, these individuals lack enough equipment to continue playing regular golf.

This campaign hopes to change that, and any donations will be welcomed such as balls, clubs, bags or clothing. People can donate equipment on site at The Belfry by visiting the public car park (Car Park 4). The first 20 people donating an item each day will also receive a free ticket to the tournament, which opens to the public tomorrow and runs until Sunday 24th August.

The Betfred British Masters is the opening event on the “Back 9” – a collection of nine of the Tour’s most historic events and national Opens. Since 2023, the tournament has been hosted by six-time major winner Sir Nick Faldo.

Speaking about the campaign Andrew Lynch, Sustainability Programme Manager at the DP Word Tour, said: “As we know well through our G4D (Golf for the Disabled) Tour, which is also playing this week at the Betfred British Masters, golf is a sport that can be played by those with a wide range of disabilities and impairments. Golf can give those injured in the war in Ukraine hope – but this requires equipment that is badly lacking.

“We want our fans attending the event to donate whatever equipment they have lying around – however big or small. There is the added incentive of free tickets for the first 20 people donating each day, so get yourself down to The Belfry and play your part.”

Tickets are available via the official tournament website with free entry for children under 12 and discounted youth tickets available. Please go to Tickets | Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo 2025 – DP World Tour for all the details.
