4 new accredited Better Food Traders connect Londoners with ethical food producers

A new community food retail network launched at the end of 2019, Better Food Traders, is turning the mainstream food system on its head, one local area at a time. The not-for-profit enterprise, spearheaded by Hackney social enterprise Growing Communities, is supporting ethical businesses to sell sustainably grown fruit and vegetables to their local communities.

Four ethical, London-based food retailers have now become accredited Better Food Traders:

  2. Growing Communities, N16 – a Hackney community-led organisation that aims to change what we eat, how we eat and how it’s farmed
  3. Lee Greens, SE12 – locally grown, seasonal, organic veg bags for collection from various points across South East London
  4. Organiclea, E17 a community food project based in Lea Valley, meeting local demand for food and plants
