London restaurant revealed as one of best valued Michelin starred takeaways

Recent uncertainty for restaurants has meant that many Michelin starred restaurants have created takeaway menus for the nation’s food lovers taking that weekend treat to unparalleled heights. Award winning food, service and ambience can be challenging to replicate at home, so how are these highly regard chefs bringing that ‘wow factor’ into our homes?

Kitchen experts, Kutchenhaus, tested if you really can create that extra special experience in your own kitchen. The specialists have investigated the menus and delivery options for Michelin restaurants across the country that have launched a takeaway option for customers during lockdown to see if they can really maintain that ‘je ne sais quoi’.

With prices ranging from £19 to £95 and options including live cook a-longs, plating tutorials and meals which are as simple as pop in the oven, it is clear that Brits are now able to bring some of that fine dining experience into their own homes. Each restaurant has been ranked based on value for money, dining experience and customer reviews, to reveal the top five:

1.         Simon Rogan at Home L’Enclume – Lake District / Cumbria

2.         The Hind’s Head – Bray

3.         Restaurant James Sommerin – Penarth

4.         Kitchen W8 – London

5.         Bohemia – Jersey

Michelin restaurants across the UK, are adopting to this “new” normal, with many opening their doors on Saturday 4th July, some restaurants have also mentioned the dine at home experience has been such a success they will look to carry it on after Lockdown.

From Just Eat, collection only, to postal delivery, these restaurants have made sure their food is enjoyed by many during lockdown. Receiving online compliments such as Michelin-starred The Black Swan in Oldstead: “Delivered by friendly staff, the Oldstead Food Box is labelled well and with easy to follow cooking instructions”.

Michelin-starred Hide in London was listed as a great dining experience too with the food described as “simple, tasty and appetising” and is delivered within a seven mile radius of the restaurant.

Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin-starred The Hind’s Head in Bray is described on Instagram “What a delicious dinner. I absolutely love beef short rib this was outstanding with an amazing coffee and cardamom rub” with some claiming “We feel like we’ve dined out tonight! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!”.

These restaurants are encouraging people across the UK to enjoy a special meal, put together by some of the finest chefs, who work with ingredients many of us wouldn’t know where to start with from a splash of La Joya Oscura coffee, to chive and crab oil.

Research* has found that Brits pay on average £20 for two people per takeaway and as little as £9.86 on a Chinese**and although this is only a crumb of a Michelin star dinner price, ordering a Michelin two course dinner during lockdown can cost as little as £19 per person,  providing the experience and fresh ingredient quality of fine dining which is incomparable to your everyday take out.
