First Mile acquires Giraffe Recycling and strengthens its position as London’s leading recycling company

First Mile, London’s leading recycling company, has today announced the acquisition of Giraffe Recycling, effective as of 29 July 2020.

Founded in 2004, First Mile works with over 25,000 businesses in London, providing an extensive suite of recycling and waste management services throughout the capital. Giraffe Recycling is a specialist local waste and recycling collector, providing waste and recycling services to businesses exclusively in London’s West End district.

The acquisition of Giraffe Recycling further consolidates First Mile’s position as the leading waste and recycling company in Central London, adding hundreds of retail and office businesses to its portfolio of customers.

Speaking about the acquisition, founder and CEO of First Mile, Bruce Bratley, said: “As our customer base reopens from COVID lockdown, this acquisition reinforces First Mile’s commitment to business growth and allows us to continue to invest in our service in the heart of London. We look forward to getting to know our new customers, and the opportunity to continue and expand the superb services provided by Giraffe Recycling.”

John Lowery, MD at Giraffe Recycling, added: “First Mile is incredibly committed to environmental best practice within the sector, backed up with outstanding customer support. I have no doubt that they will continue the fantastic service previously provided by Giraffe, and that our customers are in great hands. I wish them all the best for the future.”
