AAJA present Creekside Festival

Created in pure celebration for South East London’s much loved community radio station, record label and hub, AJAA, turning 5 years old – co-founders, Samuel Willott and Owen Howells have joined with local friends to create Creekside Festival. The unique, day to night gathering will take place on Saturday 2 September, across multiple venues in Deptford, South East London. The first release of tickets are £15 and are on sale now here.

The festival is a natural progression from what AAJA has strived for and achieved over the past five years. Championing local artists and nurturing homegrown collectives. Following AAJA’s huge story of resilience following the global pandemic and displacement from their first home, the need to gather couldn’t come sooner. Creekside invites the local community, long term supporters, and big time electronic music fans to join them to enjoy the very best of hyperlocal, underground music from DJs and presenters across a wide array of electronic music all day, and all night, with a sprinkling of headliners to top it off.

From its humble beginnings in a tiny arch in Deptford to SE London’s best kept secret indoor/outdoor space, The AAJA Snake Pit. AAJA is a space where you can watch and listen to live radio, while enjoying a pint and a toastie. While at the same time ending up having a dance with underground legends like Jeremry Sylvester or Ok Williams.

Today, Creekside Festival announces all 10 independent music venues in Deptford taking part inc. AAJA’s very own and brand new location – The AAJA Snake Pit and the debut of AAJA Basement. Joining them will be their local venue neighbours Artworks Courtyard, Buster Mantis, Endeavour, Isla Ray, Little Faith, Stocktons, The Birds Nest, and Villagers.

Each venue, an intimate space, will play host to a set of crews thoughtfully curated by AAJA including party hosts themselves – AAJA, creative community broadcast platform and event space. Threads Radio, previously broadcasting out of The Cause in London, radio station & international platform. Simply Sensational, A collective of friends converting a series of private parties into a unique new events brand. Big soundsystem heroes – Cheeky Soundsystem, House and impeccable DJ sets from WOLF Music, vinyl masters – No Boundaries. Showcasing House and Electro talent will be Sass & Vibes. Then there will be underground UKG, Jungle and 140 from Rat Face Records, Bass, Hardcore, Breaks and Techno from Subsidance, the brand new Drum & Bass/Jungle label Devon’s Road Recordings, and a mix of Disco, Tech and House from For the Record.

Plus – more will be announced about the festival lineup soon, inc. headliners.

Creekside Festival has been created from years of experience, participation and experimentation and is set to be a favourite fixture for the underground music sphere and the emerging festival scene. The passion, resilience and drive of AAJA has spawned a household name within the music community of London and beyond, and Creekside is set to show off that liberation.

Comments from joint AAJA Founders, and Creekside Festival organisers, Owen & Samuel say –

“We want to celebrate 5 years in the game with AAJA and what better way to mark the occasion than championing all of the hyperlocal Deptford spaces, businesses and community members which have gotten us to where AAJA is today. Creekside will not only celebrate, but also highlight Deptford’s unique and often endangered cultural spaces. The festival will be an intimate, multi-venue, day to night, electronic music festival, with an emphasis on being affordable for all.”

Creekside Festival will take place on Saturday 2 September, at various venues across Deptford, South East London, the first release of tickets are £15 and on sale
