Andi Oliver collaborates with Pahli Hill Fitzrovia for Indo-Caribbean Supper Club

Pahli Hill – the Indian restaurant in Fitzrovia – has announced its latest partnership with renowned British-Caribbean chef Andi Oliver for a one-night-only collaboration dinner on Thursday 6th March. Hosted by Head Chef Avi and Andi Oliver, this unique evening celebrates the crossover of Indian and Caribbean cuisines, drawing upon the shared histories of colonisation and migration that have led to the birth of Indo-Caribbean food.

During colonial times, Indian workers were forced to go and work in the Caribbean. These individuals, uprooted from their homeland, brought with them their rich culinary traditions which fused with local Caribbean ingredients and techniques and formed the Indo-Caribbean cuisine that exists today.

This collaboration aims to showcase the magical cuisine that has come from this shared culture, and how Indo-Caribbean food, born out of darkness, is a testament to how hardship can inspire light, creativity and unforgettable flavours.

The menu will feature curated dishes that showcase the real essence of Indo-Caribbean cuisine. Guests can expect the likes of Slow Cooked Goat Glazed with Tamarind and Jaggery Butter, Deep Fried Plantain, Tandoori Red Mullet with a Fish Tea Rasam and Pineapple and Rum Granita. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a limited-edition rum cocktail using Duppy White rum, a Jamaican rum flavoured with flavours of mango, pimento and fresh thyme.

On the night, Andi Oliver and Avi (Great British Menu winner 2023) will be there to greet guests and cook up a storm. With just one sitting available, the pair will give a short speech about their shared cultural experiences and how this has shaped the Indo-Caribbean food that the guests will enjoy that evening.

Avi Shashidhrara, Head Chef at Pahli Hill, says: “We really want to portray what real Indo-Caribbean food is and showcase our shared culture through this magical cuisine. It’s been such a pleasure to work with Andi on this collaboration dinner and learn more about Indo-Caribbean food. It’s going to be a great night – Andi’s energy will totally set the tone of the evening and above all, the food will be unforgettable and something completely unique in London right now.”

This one-night-only dinner promises to be an evening of celebration and will combine Avi and Andi’s shared personal experiences with their impressive culinary prowess – not one to be missed.
