Appeal after woman sexually assaulted on bus in Ilford

Police are releasing images of a man they would like to identify following a sexual assault on a bus in Ilford.

In the early hours of Saturday, 6 October the victim, a woman in her 30s, was on a N8 bus between Stratford bus station and Gants Hill.

She dozed off, and was sexually assaulted by a man who later got off the bus.

The offence was committed between 0500-0600hrs,

Detective Constable Harry Esealuka, of the East Area Command Unit, said: “This was an awful attack on a female who had every right to expect to travel safely on public transport. She has been devastated by the incident.

“I urge anyone who recognises the male in this image to contact us immediately. We would particularly like to hear from passengers who were on the same bus and confronted the attacker before he left the scene.”
