With families across the UK getting ready for the start of the May half term, the team and animals at Chessington World of Adventures Resort have been doing getting ready to welcome guests through the gates to experience their brand-new event, ‘Mardi GRRRA!’. Inspired by Mardi Gras in New Orleans, this family-friendly party event runs from Friday May 27 to Sunday June 26 and celebrates some of Chessington’s most iconic and spectacular species, in a jamboree of dance, music and entertainment taking place across the whole resort.

Not wanting to miss out on the action, some of the Zoo’s residents have been enjoying delightful animal-friendly treats. The tower of giraffe enjoyed a particularly delicious edible headdress made with willow branches – one of their favourite foods!

Guests visiting Chessington during the event will get to celebrate with their animal inspired and flamboyant Kreature Krewes, who will be found roaming high and low around every corner. These talented entertainers took the opportunity to channel their wild side ahead of launch day, as the bird themed High Flyers Krewe took to the skies over Chessington in full costume on the renowned Vampire rollercoaster, and the Elmer’s Colour Krewe hung out with the rainbow lorikeets, too.
