Award-winning American tenor Bryan Hymel to perform a free lunchtime concert at the Royal Opera House

Celebrated tenor Bryan Hymel will perform a free lunchtime concert at the Royal Opera House as part of its popular Live at Lunch series which takes places every Friday in the Linbury Foyer.

Bryan Hymel, currently rehearsing the role of Don José in Barrie Kosky’s exuberant production of Bizet’s masterpiece Carmen for The Royal Opera, will perform a free lunchtime concert in the Linbury foyer on Friday 14 June at 1pm. The performance lasts 45 minutes and visitors will not require a ticket to attend.

Bryan Hymel made his Royal Opera debut in 2010 as Don José (Carmen) and has since sung Prince (Rusalka), Aeneas (Les Troyens), the title role of Robert le diable, Henri (Les Vêpres siciliennes), the title role in Don Carlo, Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) and Canio (Pagliacci) for the Company.

He studied at the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia. His notable appearances away from London include Aeneas, Arnold (Guillaume Tell), Rodolfo (La bohème), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) and Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) for the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Henri, Arnold and Don José for Bavarian State Opera, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) for La Scala, Milan, Don José, Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Faust (La Damnation de Faust) and Aeneas for Paris Opéra, Percy (Anna Bolena) for Lyric Opera of Chicago, Rodolfo for Dallas Opera, Aeneas for San Francisco Opera and Duke of Mantua for Deutsche Oper Berlin.

In 2013 he was awarded the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera for his performances as Prince, Aeneas and Robert with The Royal Opera.

Live at Lunch is part of a regular programme of daytime events, activities and festivals at the Royal Opera House, following on from the three-year renovation of the building. The Royal Opera House is now open every day from 10am, when visitors can feel something new though regular ballet and opera performances, family festivals and workshops.
