London is getting a Bajan twist on the Sunday roast this Mother’s Day as BARBS, the UK’s first authentic Bajan fast-casual restaurant, unveils a special Mother’s Day Bajan Roast at Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch.
Available for dine-in only, the one-day menu brings together BARBS’ bold seasoning, generous portions and laid-back Caribbean hospitality, with a complimentary Mount Gay rum punch for every mum dining on the day.
Operating from the ground floor of one of East London’s most recognisable nightlife destinations, BARBS continues to spotlight Barbadian food culture, reworking traditional formats through a Bajan lens.
For Mother’s Day, that means taking the structure of a classic British roast and layering in the flavours of Barbados.
In Barbados, Sunday lunch is more than a meal. It is when families gather, plates are loaded properly and nothing is rushed. BARBS’ Mother’s Day menu draws directly from that tradition.
All mains are served with peas and rice, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, sweet plantain, rich gravy and a Yorkshire pudding.
Mother’s Day Mains include: Roast Chicken (£26), Fried Fish (£27), Pork Belly (£28), Fried Chicken (£25), Roasted Cauliflower (VG) (£23)
Sides include Macaroni Pie (£7), Coleslaw (£4), Plantain (£2), Yorkshire Pudding (£2) and Desserts Cassava Pone with condensed milk ice cream (£8).
The menu blends British roast familiarity with Bajan staples such as peas and rice, plantain and macaroni pie, reflecting the cultural crossover that defines modern Caribbean London.
Every mum will receive a complimentary Mount Gay rum punch on arrival, a nod to the island’s long rum heritage and BARBS’ focus on celebration.
Founder Nicc Wright said: “Sunday lunch in Barbados is about family and abundance. Mother’s Day felt like the right moment to bring that energy into London. It is a roast, but done the BARBS way.”
The Mother’s Day menu will sit alongside BARBS’ core offering for the day, all made from scratch using the brand’s own recipes.
