Barratt London Celebrates Community with Launch of Christmas Advent Campaign

Barratt London has launched a virtual Christmas advent campaign to celebrate community, after a year when it has mattered the most. Residents at developments across the capital, including Upton Gardens on the site of the former West Ham United FC ground, Hayes Village that was once the iconic Nestlé chocolate factory and Hendon Waterside, an estate regeneration in north London, have got behind the campaign to have some much needed fun after a difficult year.

A selection of residents volunteered to appear behind a door of the virtual advent calendar in the 24 doors leading up to Christmas, and have a dedicated space to introduce themselves, and celebrate the strong communities that have been forged as a result of the pandemic.

Jim Wood, Managing Director at Barratt London, comments: “The communities at each of our developments have really come into their own since the first lockdown. It has been wonderful to see new neighbours rallying around and helping each other during this difficult time. We have heard of doorstep drinks, walking clubs, resident WhatsApp groups to help pick up shopping for those isolating, and drop off points being set up to support local foodbanks. We might have spent most of 2020 distancing, but our developments are very much still connected as a community and we wanted this calendar to celebrate that in a creative way, full of Christmas cheer.”

Interior designer and trained actor, Steven Luemba, a resident of Barratt London’s New Mill Quarter, who took part in the virtual advent calendar, comments: “When you move into a home, you usually take your time to get to know your neighbours, but the pandemic has sped this up. All new to the development, we were immersed into creating a support network for one another, which has been incredible. When lockdown was at its most strict, we’d sit on our balconies and cheer each other up, or sit in our front doorways and talk down the corridors with a glass of wine. It’s quite beautiful when you think about the strong community we’ve created and I’m so pleased that Barratt London has chosen to celebrate this in such a festive way.

Barratt London prides itself on creating new communities, while integrating seamlessly with local neighbourhoods across the capital. Its carefully designed play areas, libraries, medical centres, sports facilities, shops, gyms, and landscaped open spaces which can be found on-site at many developments all encourage vibrant, sustainable communities. Barratt London currently has a selection of homes for sale at a range of prices, including Eastman Village in Harrow, High Street Quarter in Hounslow, as well as Ridgeway Views and Millbrook Park in Mill Hill.

The doors of the virtual Barratt London advent calendar will come to life each day at 11am from Tuesday 1st to Thursday 24th December 2020. Please follow the Barratt London Facebook page to view: https://www.facebook.com/barrattlondon/ or on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/barrattlondon_/
