Barrington Hibbert Associates Announces Partnership with BLKOUT UK to support the Black LGBTQ+ Community

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Black Pride marches Barrington Hibbert Associates (BHA) is proud to partner with BLKOUT UK, a non-profit social enterprise, to support and recognise the diversity and views of black queer men in the UK.

Barrington Hibbert Associates funding will help bring to life BLKOUT UK’s ongoing engagement project to support more than ten thousand people of colour in the LGBTQ+ community and their allies for this months, UK Black Pride.

The BLKOUT UK engagement project comes as London continues to witness a rise in anti LGBTQ+ hate crimes Recent reports by the Metropolitan Police Service showed that more than three thousand homophobic hate crimes were reported in 2022, an increase of 28 per cent from the previous year.

To provide a safe space and celebrate the diversity of experience and views amongst Black queer men in the UK, BLKOUT UK will also launch the new BLKOUTHUB mobile app, created to provide a platform to mobilise the LGBTQ+ community to work together and address shared challenges. The member only app will support and encourage Black Queer men to meet, network, chat and attend LIVE events.

Michael Barrington-Hibbert, CEO of Barrington Hibbert Associates said:

“While recent years have seen strides forward in the equality of the LGBTQ+ community, there is still a long way to go. LGBTQ+ people of colour have continued to be marginalised, and police figures have shown that anti-LGBTQ+ violence in the UK is rising at an alarming rate.

It is a real honour to be able to partner with BLKOUT UK, an impactful and visionary initiative to help ensure that the current challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community do not continue to go unnoticed. We are looking forward to working with the team to continue to build the support, community and safe spaces that will make such a positive difference to marginalised members of the LGBT+ community. ‘’
