Beat the Blue Monday blues at London Wetland Centre

Poor weather, dark evenings, a lower than normal bank balance and failed new year resolutions – it’s no surprise then, that the third Monday of January is the most depressing day of the year.

To help brighten up Londoners’ Blue Monday, London Wetland Centre has rounded up its best January offers and activities for big and little kids alike.

What can Londoners do at London Wetland Centre on Blue Monday 2024?

1. Meet the otters: Watch London Wetland Centre’s Asian-clawed otters play and cause mischief under the waterfall. Join them for their daily feed, and learn about their loves, lives and homemaking habits.

2. Take a walk on the wildside: London Wetland Centre’s ‘Wildside’ area promises another level of tranquillity for those who seek it. It’s a secluded spot to find peace, and observe the migrating birdlife and soothing sunset.

3. Let your mind fly: Get closer to seasonal bird species and enjoy panoramic views across the reserve from the comfort of London Wetland Centre’s three storey observation hide, Peacock Tower.

4. Have a coffee and catch up with friends: Have lunch with your friends or colleagues at London Wetland Centre’s cafe, where diners will find hot drinks, tasty treats and warming recipes, set against the beautiful backdrop of the reserve.

5. Spoil yourself with a small treat: From best selling nature books and board games, to homeware and local produce, and much more, there’s plenty to peruse at the London Wetland Centre shop.

Alexia Hollinshead, General Manager at London Wetland Centre, commented: “At London Wetland Centre, we know how important nature can be in lifting our moods and boosting our wellbeing, with research showing that simply spending time around it can be a great way to combat stress and relax. That’s why we want to encourage people to take a break and just lose themselves in our urban oasis.”

London Wetland Centre is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Blue Monday (15th January 2024). For more information about what’s on, visit www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/london/whats-on/.
