Better Green Living Helps Kick Youth Homelessness In Local Football Match
Refurbishment specialists, Better Green Living has kickstarted another year of its partnership with New Horizon Youth Centre, as it recently took part in a Football Tournament to help raise awareness for Youth Homelessness in London.
During the group stages of the tournament, 12 teams competed in 35-minute matches, with Better Green Giants securing one victory against Sony Music Entertainment UK, McGee, and Farrer & Co.
Better Green Living launched a collaboration with New Horizon Youth Centre at the start of last year, in support of the centre’s work. Since then, it has worked with members to design a custom-made kit for Kings X Courage, the basketball team for young people affected by homelessness at the Youth Centre.
Founded in 1967, the centre is dedicated to ending homelessness in London, working with young people to find them a safe place to call home, as well as nurture their skills and interests through sports and artistic activities. Last year, 118,134 young people were homeless or at risk of homelessness in the UK[1].
Lucy Nichols, Corporate Partnership Manager at New Horizon Youth Centre, commented: “It has been fantastic to continue the partnership with Better Green Living as we raise awareness of youth homelessness across London. The matches were a great way to bring everyone together for a united cause. We want to thank Better Green Living for putting their football boots on and playing for such an important charity.”
Tom Dodson, Chief Operations Officer at Better Green Living, said: “Bringing the London community together by playing football is a great way to raise awareness for New Horizon Youth Centre, while also showing off some secret talents the teams had! Sport has the power to unite and inspire people, and this match was a great example of that. We look forward to the next challenge!”
