Borough Market announces a series of masterclasses to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023

To celebrate International Women’s Day (8th March 2023), Borough Market, London’s iconic food destination, has announced a raft of virtual masterclasses to celebrate the success and contribution of women to the Market and wider food industry.

Featuring successful female entrepreneurs and food writers, the masterclasses will showcase the diverse range of talented women involved with Borough Market
and panellists will discuss how they got on to their career paths and the successes and challenges they have faced. They will also share their advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs and discuss the importance of female leadership in the food industry.

Each session will be led by an influential woman from the Borough Market family, who will interview two or more female guests per topic.

The guests include a number of the Market’s female business owners such as Lynsey Coughlan from The Ginger Pig and Monika Linton of Brindisa, as well as female
friends of the Market including food writer Clare Finney and industry commentator Mallika Basu.

Four masterclasses will take place throughout the day, covering the following topics: Fighting Gender Bias And Growing Your Confidence, Starting Your Own Food
Business, How To Build A Career In Food Writing and
Creating Your Personal Brand.

Free for all and available on Zoom, anyone interested in taking part will be able to join a Q&A session at the end of each masterclass.

Borough Market CEO, Jane Swift says:
“30% of businesses at Borough Market are owned by women and International Women’s Day is the perfect time to recognise their contribution. Not only are these masterclasses a chance to showcase the incredible skills of the Market’s women but they are also a
demonstration of how many women support us in what we do – from running stalls to working behind the scenes . We hope these panel discussions will inspire more women to take the leap and choose a career they are truly passionate about.”
