Brits lose two hours sleep a night due to partner’s nightmare night-time habits

More than half of Brits who share their bed with a partner miss out on two hours of sleep a night due to their other half’s nightmare night-time habits, new national research has revealed.

The study, conducted by the UK’s most trusted sleep brand, Silentnight, was commissioned to reveal the considerable impact that sharing a bed with a partner or spouse has on our sleep.

The survey found over half (55%) of Brits lose sleep when sharing a bed with someone else.

Women struggle the most, according to the study, with four in ten (40%) lying awake while their partner tosses and turns, compared to just 34% of men who say their partners keep them awake.

And all this tossing and turning during the night is taking its toll on the nation’s relationships, the research found, with over half of Brits (53%) arguing with their partner about disturbed sleep.

This results in 17% ending up in the spare bedroom or on the sofa to get away from their partner at night-time on a regular basis.

Reasons for night-time tossing and turning include the temperature, with one in five Brits admitting that the struggle to stay warm at night keeps them awake, worries about work (10%), cost of living pressures (11%), and not having a comfortable mattress or bed (8%).

To help long-suffering partners achieve the perfect snooze, Silentnight is on the lookout for the nation’s biggest tossers (and turners) to test out its newest mattress range designed to promote a better night’s sleep.

The brand is calling on Brits to nominate their pesky partners, and in exchange five lucky couples will receive a mattress from the Silentnight LIFT collection which uses Intense™ technology for deeper, undisturbed sleep, even when your partner is prone to tossing and turning overnight.

The UK’s most trusted sleep brand will also award the lucky couple with a cash prize of £300 so they can improve the quality of their sleep while revamping their bedroom.
