The collection brings together two booming trends – the rising global appetite for fusion desserts and the growing popularity of authentic world flavours. Taking traditional South Asian sweets – enjoyed across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and beyond – and re-imagining them as light sponge cakes and cream-topped treats, perfect for a family weekend treat, taking to dinner parties or offering to guests.

Available in participating Cake Box stores and online from 6 October, the range is designed for everyone to enjoy, whether you are familiar with mithai or simply looking to try something new.

The collection includes five celebration cakes, each drawing on the flavours of South Asian sweets and re-imagining them for today’s occasions.

Highlights include the Bedana cake, a light Victoria sponge layered with fresh cream and inspired by fruity dried-fruit sweets; the Pink Chom Chom cake, colourful and delicately sweet; and the Gulab Jamun cake, with caramel sponge and cream layers that echo the richness of South Asia’s most famous sweet.

For nut lovers, there’s the Pistachio cake with its subtle roasted-nut notes, while the Dubai Chocolate cake offers an indulgent, on-trend centrepiece with a glossy finish.
Alongside the larger cakes, the range includes individual slices (from £4.50) and cupcakes (from £3.50) in the same flavours.

A box of six cupcakes, priced from £19, makes an easy gift or the perfect addition to a gathering.

Whether it’s relaxed weekend hosting, taking something special to a dinner party, indulging with the family at home, or experimenting with new tastes as an adventurous foodie, the range is designed to be enjoyed by everyone.
The range will be available from 6 October in participating Cake Box stores nationwide and online. All products are freshly made, egg-free, and strictly limited edition – once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Sukh Chamdal, chief executive officer (CEO) at Ambala and Cake Box, said: “Mithai has been at the heart of family life and celebrations for generations. This collaboration is a chance for people to enjoy familiar favourites in a new way or discover them for the first time. We’ve taken well-loved flavours like the syrupy richness of gulab jamun and the delicate nuttiness of pistachio and reimagined them as freshly made, egg-free cakes, slices and cupcakes. Whether you’re sharing with friends, bringing something special to a dinner party or simply treating the family, we’d love people to give them a try while they’re available.”
