Cameron Vale Pupils Host Charitable Farewell Fun Day
Departing Class 6 (Year 6) children at Cameron Vale School have hosted a whole-school, charitable fun day full of activities, as a thank you and farewell.
In what is a yearly tradition at the leading preparatory school in Chelsea, Class 6 planned and organised the action-packed day to say goodbye to the rest of the school and to show their appreciation for all of the support over the years.
Children across the school were invited to donate a minimum of £2 to participate in the events and to help raise money for a carefully chosen worthy-cause. Class 6 pupils researched a trio of charities and presented each as a persuasive speech to the rest of the school for consideration. A ballot then followed to determine which charity would receive the donation, with MacMillan Cancer Support securing the highest number of votes and the £200 raised.
The classrooms were awash with colour, imagination and fantasy as all children and staff members donned their best fancy dress in their dedicated house themes, Cartoon Caryle, Mythical Mulberry and Sci-Fi Sydney. Prizes were awarded for best costumes in Lower School and Upper School for each house, chosen by House Prefects in Class 6.
In addition to planning the events, Class 6 also generously funded a series of prizes. Children participated in a variety of fun activities including face and nail painting, lucky dip, raffles, a game of ‘Guess the Baby’ with teachers and Class 6 pupils, and guess how many sweets are in the jar. Teachers throughout the school also helped with a number of events including biscuit decorating, obstacle course, recycling costume design, tin-can alley and parachute games to name just a few. Classes moved throughout the school on rotation to take part in each of the events, winning prizes as they went along.
Headteacher at Cameron Vale School, Bridget Saul, commented, “Our Class 6 pupils showcased impressive organisation skills and imagination to host and plan our annual fun day, as a way of saying farewell. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all, while also raising money for an incredibly worthy cause.
“At Cameron Vale School we have a strong reputation and proud history of sending our children to some of the most selective schools in London and further afield. The end of a child’s time with us in Year 6 is a significant milestone and we wish each and every one of our pupils the very best of luck and success, and look forward to hearing about their future achievements as they progress to prestigious secondary schools.”
Cameron Vale is a co-educational pre-prep and prep school for children from age 4 to 11 years. A homely and heart-lifting sight amid the bustle of Chelsea, London, Cameron Vale has a distinctive family atmosphere and nurturing ethos which celebrates the individual and strives to unlock each child’s true potential.
Driven by the belief that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is limiting, and supported by its small classes which allow each child to shine, the school is able to ensure children are known for who they are and develop their own gifts and talents; whether it be excelling in the classroom, on the sports field or the stage. Cameron Vale pupils are motivated to give everything and to be the best they can be, going on to prestigious secondary schools and further beyond.
A new addition to Cameron Vale School is The Chelsea Nursery, for children aged between 2 to 4 ½ years old. The Chelsea Nursery is committed to providing the best possible start to education, supporting each child to develop their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning. In a safe and nurturing environment that is wholly child-centred, the curriculum is personalised to each child’s strengths and interests.
The Chelsea Nursery offers flexible wraparound care 50 weeks of the year, with opening hours from 8am to 6pm. Alongside the wider school’s breakfast and afterschool clubs, The Chelsea Nursery and Cameron Vale School are ideally placed for a one-stop school drop, just off the King’s Road.
