Capital Breakfast’s Jordan North brings Greggs Corned Beef Bakes to London for the first time in over 10 years

To mark the one-year anniversary of Jordan North joining Capital Breakfast, leading food-on-the-go retailer Greggs has waved a magic wand and made Jordan’s flakey dreams come true…bringing a tasty snack ONLY available in certain regions, to London for the first time in over 10 years.

The Corned Beef Bake, which is famously only available in selected regions across the UK, including shops in the Midlands, Yorkshire, Wales, the Northeast and Southwest, isn’t available in London. Until now!

Jordan North, Capital Breakfast’s proud Northerner, has long championed his love for all things corned beef—much to the horror of his co-hosts and some listeners, who simply can’t get on board. Whether it’s a corned beef hash, a Greggs bake, or even straight from the tin, Jordan insists it’s a delicacy that deserves more respect. But instead of backing down, he’s doubling down, enlisting the help of Greggs to bring a true Northern favourite to the Capital. With their backing, he’s on a mission to break the north-south divide and re-introduce Londoners to the joys of the legendary Corned Beef Bake for one day only —whether they like it or not!

The bake, which is made up of chunks of corned beef, potato, carrots, onion and peas and enclosed in a puff pastry case, was briefly available in London stores in 2012 as part of a trial, but has never returned. Despite numerous Reddit threads asking “Do Greggs bakeries in London not do corned beef pasties?” and a Reddit user explaining “No they don’t sadly! It’s a north east thing, and a Steak Bake does not compare” while another thread says “Greggs Corned Beef Pasty – are these common in most Greggs? I used to get them all the time but ever since I moved down south I can’t seem to find them anymore”.

Jordan North, host of Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby, explained: “I’ve had the best time over the past year. Our listeners, Sian, Chris and all the Breakfast team have all been so welcoming. But there is one thing no-one agrees with me on – that Corned Beef is a fantastic meal. I want to change people’s minds and have called on Gregg’s to help me. Last year we launched the controversial breakfast bap, The Jordan, with all three sauces, so who better to help me convince everyone round here is wrong and we need the famous Corned Beef Bake in London!”

To help Jordan in his mission, he called in the help of Greggs CEO, Roisin Currie, once again to pull in the favour for himself, as Sian previously dubbed Roisin “the most powerful woman in the UK”. Speaking on yesterday’s Capital Breakfast Show, Roisin admitted it was “quite an ask” but to honour Jordan’s milestone Capital anniversary she admitted “let me see what we can do”.

And now it seems like Chris’ contacts have yet again worked in his favour as Greggs have since this morning announced the Corned Beef Bake would be available in 5 shops in London for one day only – Friday 4th April.
