Celebrate Lunar New Year with Uncle Roger and mei mei’s Auntie Liz

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, mei mei, the Singaporean kopi tiam in London’s Borough Market, and renowned global comedian and content creator Uncle Roger, are delighted to announce an exciting collaboration with the release of their Lunar New Year Meal Kit – guarantee to give the fuiyoh factor.

The Lunar New Year is traditionally a festival that signals the beginning of Spring, transition of zodiac signs and the start of the new year, which this year falls on February 1st. It’s an opportunity to gather around a table, feast with family, and reinvigorate traditions with dishes that give meaning to the new year ahead. According to the Chinese calendar, 2022 will be the year of the Tiger, a majestic animal that symbolises strength, courageousness and confidence – providing the positive year ahead we all deserve!

This LNY mei mei’s Auntie Liz and Uncle Roger will be encouraging an abundance of celebrations and togetherness by providing the perfect meal kit to see in the new year with loved ones.

Uncle Roger – an online sensation renowned for his no nonsense critiques of other chefs cooking styles – has taken action in combating rice-related sins and together with Auntie Liz has created the perfect step-to-guide to make the ultimate egg fried rice. The use of a colander is strongly discouraged. The LNY meal kits will serve two to four people and includes mei mei’s signature whole poached Hainanese chicken or Cantonese-style roast duck.

For those wanting to fully indulge, a Deluxe version will also be available including added additions such as Longevity noodles (long noodles), something that Auntie Liz serves during her own LNY celebration dinners: “we serve the long noodles towards the end of the celebration dinner as they represent a wish for long life, hence the name ‘longevity noodles’. The fun is in trying not to break, or definitely not cut the noodles whilst cooking them, so having everything prepped ready to go will help.” Alongside the noodles, mei mei’s very own crispy chili oil (available to purchase at the restaurant or online) will also be included.

For orders visit mei mei online www.meimei.uk. The LNY Meal Kit is priced at £88 and the Deluxe kit at £100 and can be collected either at mei mei or delivered on the following dates:

PICK UP at mei mei: Tuesday 1st February

DELIVERY (nationwide): Wednesday 2nd + Wednesday 9th February

*cut off for deliveries are 29th January and 4th February respectively*

mei mei will also be selling their sought-after produce such as kaya jam, chilli sauces amongst other homemade sauces, and for a limited time while they last, LNY pineapple tarts, all perfect for gifting.
