Celebrate Mother’s Day with a decadent Regency Afternoon Tea at Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Treat your mother to a truly indulgent Afternoon Tea this Mother’s Day at one of London’s most iconic venues. Theatre Royal Drury Lane’s beautifully restored Grand Saloon, a marble-lined Regency rooms, featuring twinkling chandeliers and a fine art collection, is a setting fit for a Queen.

The unique Regency Afternoon Tea menu has been created by London-based baker, Lily Vanilli and includes a generous array of savoury bites and sweet cakes. First choose your favourite tea by the Rare Tea Company, and then start with a puff pastry sausage roll packed with Cornish sausage meat; madeleines topped with lapsang-souchong glazed salmon and pickled fennel and bitesize cannelés topped with smooth goats cheese and pickled beetroot.

Delicious warm scones are paired with salted whipped butter, homemade jam and cream. Finish off with a decadent sweet selection, which includes Lily Vanilli’s signature layered chocolate sponge cake decorated with pink icing, fresh strawberries and pink and red icing flowers. Mini sticky toffee puddings are filled with a custard filled centre and a pink lemonade tart is topped with strawberry meringue.

Afternoon Tea is served on bespoke fine bone china designed by Kit and Willow Kemp. The Mythical Characters collection celebrates the rich history of the theatre and is inspired by illustrations of costume designs created for ballets, pantomimes, comic operas and Edwardian musical comedies. For anyone who would like to take a piece of the magic home with them, each item is available to purchase from The Lane’s shop, for an extra special gift this Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea is priced from £59 per person and available from the 16th- 21st March
