CELEBRITIES TO TAKE PART IN A SPECIAL INSTAGRAM LIVE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF EATING DISORDERS

A host of celebrities are taking part in a special Instagram live to raise awareness of eating disorders.

Actresses Jessica Impiazzi and Mikyla Dodd and the actor Paul Cooper have joined forces with author and counsellor Lynn Crilly to star in the short film, ‘A Day with an Eating Disorder.’

Producer Lynn’s daughter Samantha also stars in the production and was the inspiration behind the satirical film which documents living with the condition.

Hosted by Lynn and director Marvin Ambrosius, the live broadcast will feature the cast of the film discussing its message, the realities of eating disorders and the importance of awareness and support.

Lynn, who became a counsellor after her daughter began suffering from an eating disorder and OCD, said the film was designed to “help break the stigma of eating disorders.”

“People with eating disorders struggle daily and the aim of this film is to shed light on the realities but also the emotional toll on families and loved ones.

“In recognition of Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW), many of those who feature in the film will join me on 25th February for this important conversation.”

Jessica Impiazzi plays Sandra Steps, a woman who is struggling with compulsive exercise and OCD. She has previously suffered from an eating disorder, which brought her to the attention of Lynn and motivated her to take part in the satirical look at eating disorders.

Actress Susanna Page, radio personality Nicki Patrick and actress and production manager Lillie Bailey will feature in the Instagram Live. Also joining the discussion is Ben Jardine, winner of ‘Married at First Sight’, who plays the husband of Samantha Crilly in the film.

The mother and daughter duo said they wanted to create something for the entertainment industry which wasn’t just “another dull documentary.”

“Some of them are brilliant, they’re very informative, but you leave a bit bewildered and a little bit flat,” explains Samantha. “I’m quite passionate about comedy, and we laughed a lot during our rock bottom times, and I think a lot of people do. If you can laugh in the face of adversity, you’re very much bulletproof. “I’ve got a passion for writing, and [Mum Lynn’s] obviously got an unbounded knowledge on the subject.

So we created a film with a satirical look on eating disorders. We know it’s a bit of a risk but equally, it’s threaded through with a lot of information and awareness about the subject.

“Everyone had some kind of link to the project, so everyone was talking about their struggles with it behind the scenes, so it is quite close to everyone’s heart.”

The live broadcast will be hosted on Lynn’s Instagram account @Lynn_Crilly from 8pm on February 25.
