Chef Atul Kochhar celebrates the Great British tradition of Afternoon Tea

Twice Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar is celebrating the Great British tradition of enjoying scrummy sandwiches and scones washed down with endless tea – and perhaps a glass of decadent bubbles. Afternoon Tea Week takes place until 15th August and for 2021, Atul has launched a special menu with his own twist on this gourmet treat and one of the nation’s favourite pastimes.

The height of sophistication, Atul’s Afternoon Tea Is being served at two of his Buckinghamshire restaurants – Vaasu in Marlow and Hawkyns in Amersham – and at Indian Essence in Petts Wood, Kent. Available from 3pm until 5pm until Sunday 15th August, Atul’s establishments are marking a return to eating out with this exquisite menu priced £18 per person, or £25 with Champagne.

For those looking to Indulge, start with the Chai Menu’s selection of teas or home-made Masala Chai, accompanied by a Mini Samosa and then Chana Jor Garam (spiced Bombay Mix salad served in a cone). Dainty sandwiches are filled with Chennai Coronation Chicken, Curried Egg & Mayonnaise and Classic Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese. Scones are piled high with fresh cream and strawberry jam. Finish with sweet treats of Cardamon flavoured Carrot Cake, Parle G Biscuits and Custard Fruit Tartlets.
