Chelsea History Festival to return for it’s 6th edition with newly-launched heritage quarter

Chelsea History Festival returns for its 6th edition from 25 – 29 September alongside the launch of the Chelsea Heritage Quarter.

This year’s programme will highlight some of the most intriguing legends, historical events, and architectural gems of the Chelsea Heritage Festival, with talks by world-class speakers, including local resident and Rolling Stones rock star Bill Wyman, international bestselling author Kate Mosse, author and broadcaster James Holland, TV-presenter Zeinab Badawi, the iconic children’s book “Horrible Histories” author Terry Deary and many more.

This year the National Army Museum, the Royal Hospital, Chelsea Physic Garden and Cadogan are announcing their new collaboration – the Chelsea Heritage Quarter.

The Chelsea Heritage Quarter is London’s new heritage destination, bringing together four remarkable institutions to tell a unique story of London and Britain from 1660 to the present day. Including magnificent architecture, military history and London’s oldest botanic garden all situated in the heart of historic and picturesque Chelsea, the Quarter presents a fascinating and wide-ranging experience for those interested in exploring Britain’s history.

Visitors will be able to book a special preview of the new Soane Stable Yard at Royal Hospital Chelsea, which opens in October after a major refurbishment. This is the first time in the Royal Hospital’s 330-year history that the public will have free access to this part of the site seven days a week. There will also be a range of walking tours, showcasing the area’s rich connections to espionage, the LGBTQ* movement and Sikh history, as well as family friendly activities like workshops with clay and hats, as well as the return of immersive, family friendly activity History Street, taking visitors into London’s past, from ancient history through to present day.
