CHRIS ROGERS TO HEAD UP GB NEWS BREAKFAST
Multi award-winning journalist and television executive Chris Rogers is joining GB News as Editor of the channel’s morning programme, GB News Breakfast.
Chris joins from Fresh Start Media, the production company he co-founded to make various award-winning programmes including FYI, a news show for young people broadcast on Sky News.
In his 30-year career Chris has won many awards, including a BAFTA, for his hard-hitting investigations and documentaries for BBC Panorama, Newsnight, and ITV Tonight.
He started out at 19 as the youngest ever presenter of Newsround, which led to roles as a reporter and presenter at Sky News, ITV News, the BBC, and Channel 4. He has covered and exposed underworld crime, political scandals, wars, and global human rights abuses.
His film on child suicide bombers in the Middle East won an Amnesty International Award and more recently, his coverage of the Ukraine war won a BAFTA. He’s been nominated for an Emmy, and his programme FYI won a Broadcast Magazine award.
His articles have been published in most of the national press and his first book, Undercover, reached the Amazon top ten best seller list.
Chris said of his new role on Breakfast, which won Best Multichannel News Programme at this year’s TRIC awards: “The opportunity to take one of the UK’s fastest-growing morning news programmes to the next level is an absolute gift.
“My life as a journalist has had one aim, to give people a voice. GB News set out to do exactly that, so I’ve admired it since launch for creating an approach to news where British people are heard, included, and informed without an agenda.”
Head of Programmes Ben Briscoe said: “Chris has a deep understanding of the stories that really matter to people. We have ambitious plans for Breakfast, which has started to beat its rivals consistently, and Chris is the perfect leader to help us execute them.”
