CITY OF LONDON LAW FIRM PLEDGES SUPPORT TO CHARITIES FACING GLOBAL CRISES PRESSURE

A London law firm has pledged its support to charities responding to mounting crises around the world by again signing up to a charity will-writing campaign.

This is the second year Penn Chambers Solicitors has taken part in Will Aid, a charity scheme taking place every November.

Penn Chambers Solicitors has raised £9,620 for the campaign’s nine partner charities since it first took part and is aiming to make 2022 its best year yet.

Emma Aslett, Head of Wills and Probate at Penn Chambers, said: “Signing up to Will Aid was an easy decision. This is another year where the world needs its amazing charities more than ever and we want to play our part in supporting them.

“Will Aid is a great scheme that offers people the chance to get a professionally written will while supporting important causes both here in the UK and around the world.

“We are very happy to volunteer our time and expertise as solicitors to support such a fantastic campaign.”

Emma added: “We are part of Penn Group that has grown alongside our clients and the list of services we provide has been curated over time to provide our clients with what they need.

“We are now, proudly, the go-to professionals for many who see the advantages of being able to resolve complex issues under one roof at the same time.

“This year, it will be myself and our trainee solicitor, Phoebe Chau, looking after our Will Aid Clients and providing them with not only a will, but peace of mind, and great service while supporting great charities.”

Solicitors taking part in the campaign waive their fees for will-writing services throughout November, instead inviting clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid.

The suggested voluntary donation for a basic single will is £100, or £180 for a pair of mirror wills.

Donations are then shared between the scheme’s nine partner charities, with participating firms raising almost £590,000 last year.

Celebrity supporters include national treasure Dame Judi Dench and TV host Graham Norton.

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid campaign director, said: “We are very grateful that Penn Chambers has signed up to this year’s campaign.

“Our partner charities are facing significant pressure responding to the cost-of-living crisis and war in Europe, all while recovering from the devastating pandemic.

“More than half of UK adults still do not have a will, so this November is a great time to tick that task off your list while supporting the incredible work of our partner charities.”

There is still time for solicitors in London to volunteer their time to take part in this year’s campaign.
