City of London Police has been assigned to Level One – the top ranking – under the new Policing Performance System published for the first time today.
Reacting to the news, City of London Police Authority Board Chair Tijs Broeke said:
“This ranking recognises the exceptional service provided by City Police, whose work helps protect the UK’s economic and financial interests while ensuring the Square Mile remains one of the world’s safest business districts, with its security providing the foundation for investment and confidence.
“City Police is a model that works, combining local accountability with national specialist capabilities, ensuring the Square Mile remains a place where people want to live, work, visit, and invest.
“As the Government considers the future shape of policing, this assessment reinforces the value of our dedicated police service for the City which delivers outstanding performance, specialist expertise and economic value, supporting the competitiveness and investability of the Square Mile and wider UK economic growth.”
