COCKTAIL BAR AND NIGHTSPOT IN CLAPHAM JUNCTION SOLD TO EXPERIENCED NEW OPERATOR

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of The Sugar Cane Bar, a South Pacific-themed cocktail bar on Lavender Hill.

The Sugar Cane Bar opened in 2007 and has since become an established and popular part of the late-night landscape in Clapham, London. With tiki hut booths, a bamboo cocktail bar, a basement night club and a heated patio area, The Sugar Cane Bar is known for its unique cocktails and sharing food platters.

After 17 years at the helm, owner Alfred Zega has now decided to pass the reins to a new operator to take the business forward. Alfred commented: “I used Christie & Co and dealt with David Wilson to dispose of the premises lease. The process was smooth and easy, and David was very prompt with answers – I was always kept abreast of the progress of the sale, and David’s input and perseverance was second to none.”

The bar has been acquired by A Taste of Africa Limited, a new hospitality business owned by experienced bar and restaurant operators.

David Wilson, Associate Director at Christie & Co who managed the sale, said: “We are thrilled to complete the sale of this lease at The Sugar Cane Bar in Clapham. While the new owners will introduce a new offering to the market, the business will continue to deliver a thriving late-night experience. This is another example of the demand we are seeing for leasehold businesses in both Central and Greater London, and we would advise anyone considering disposal of their lease to get in touch for free marketing advice.”

The Sugar Cane Bar leasehold was sold at an undisclosed price.
