Comer Homes Adds to its Burgeoning Portfolio with the Acquisition of Two Prime Town Centre Sites in Luton

Leading mixed-use developer Comer Homes has secured a pair of significant development sites on Dunstable Road, Luton. The multi-million-pound acquisition includes a substantial 0.575-acre site, which includes planning consent for 214 residential apartments, as well as the adjacent office building, Trend House.

Comer Homes is set to review the full potential of both sites, ahead of resubmitting a detailed planning application to deliver a landmark residential development that will benefit and enhance the local area.

The proposed new development of Dunstable Road will further increase Comer Homes’ presence in Luton, following the acquisition of a 1.05-acre site on Latimer Road, with plans to produce a high-quality residential scheme comprising 238 apartments.

Commenting on the acquisition, Brian Comer, Co-Founder of Comer Homes, said: “We’re very happy to have completed the purchase of these significant sites in the heart of Luton, which will further enhance our plans to contribute to the regeneration of this important location. Now that we have secured the site, we will work with our in-house team to produce a real focal point for this approach to the town and deliver much needed housing on this combined site with an improved and enhanced landmark design.”

Luton is in the midst of a substantial regeneration, with key projects and development sites contributing to a £4.5 billion investment target for the town. Key projects include the extension of London Luton Airport, the completion of a high-speed transit system linking the airport with Luton Airport Parkway station, the construction of a 1 million sq. ft. shopping centre and multiple high-quality mixed-use developments to provide much-needed accommodation and employment opportunities.

Comer Homes’ recent acquisition further increases its burgeoning portfolio, which currently comprises 18 landmark sites located predominantly across London and the South of England, and set to deliver 14,250 units, with an estimated GDV of c.£8 billion.

Once finalised, the new projects will add to the 4,850 units currently completed by the placemaking specialists, which have delivered a total Gross Development Value (GDV) of £1.2 billion.
