Consider a career in care – Sutton Care Works opens this week

A new place where you can find out more about a career working in social care is opening in the St Nicholas Shopping Centre on Wednesday 11 May.

Sutton Care Works will help showcase the different roles, techniques and skills needed for a job in social care.

Sutton has the 7th oldest population of all London boroughs and the 70 to 74 age group is projected to be the fastest growing. But the care sector isn’t just about looking after older residents, with people with learning or physical disabilities also requiring specialist and caring support to help them thrive.

That means a lot of people needing lots of different kinds of care – whether that’s someone living in a private care home, one run by the Council or it’s housing partner, Sutton Housing Partnership, or people paying for a personal assistant to support them so they can continue to live at home.

Sutton Care Works will have local social care providers and agencies who are looking to fill care roles as well as demonstrations of specialist equipment that carers often use, such as innovative technology, and the latest in infection control procedures.

It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, female or male, or have a disability – the social care sector needs people who can connect with their clients. The specialist care that carers give, helps people to live in the best setting for them, helping them to thrive and maintain their independence and quality of life.
