Continued growth for Buckles delivers record annual revenue
Building on the success of its long-term growth strategy, law firm Buckles has reported another record year with an annual revenue of £14.8M at the end of financial year March 2023. The figure represents an increase of 9.8% over last year’s figure, which was the firm’s previous record high.
The result is in line with expectations and demonstrates the validity of the strategy being pursued, which has seen the firm attract talented legal professionals and open a new office in the Midlands as it extends its reach beyond its traditional areas of strength.
Buckles Chief Executive Duncan Jackson commented: “This is the sixth year of our long-term strategic plan and we are really starting to see dividends, both in terms of the calibre of client we can attract to our business and the quality of lawyer who recognises the opportunity on offer here.
“Towards the end of the financial year we enjoyed a real boost with the opening of our West Midlands office, to accommodate a highly motivated team with unrivalled experience and a growing client list.
“This year we have also rewarded some talented legal professionals within our business for their exemplary work and dedication to our continuing success, which has delivered continued expansion of all our offices across the UK.
“Whilst a raft of lateral hires has boosted the quality of our service, we have also made a number of promotions across all teams and at all levels.”
Alvaro Aznar Azcarate, who undertakes international cross-border private client work has been promoted to partner, along with Katy Poole, an important member of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial team. After more than a decade of service to Buckles as a commercial litigator, Nick Porter has also been promoted to the role of Legal Director.
Jackson concludes: “Our international service which supports other law firms and professional advisers with access to niche, cross-border expertise continues to grow. It now boasts more than 500 members and delivers over £1M of European legal work each year.
“As we develop our strategy to reflect changes in the market and the evolving demands of our clients, we remain on course to reach our ambitious annual revenue target of £30M by 2028.
“While we continue to work with the clients that made Buckles what it is today, the global clients and legal talent we are beginning to attract will help us transform into the law firm we have planned to become. It will be a law firm to be proud of whether you work for us, or with us.”
