Crust Bros are set to open their largest pizzeria to date in Covent Garden
Crust Bros, the two-time National Pizza Award winning London pizza brand famed for charred-to-perfection leopard print crusts, personalised Neapolitan style pizzas, and the best sides in the game, is launching their biggest restaurant to date on Monday 7th July in Covent Garden. With 135 covers spread over two sprawling floors on Bedford Street in the heart of the West End, diners can expect an elevated take on the familiar Crust Bros offering – including a selection of must try new side dishes, including 6h ragu lasagna bomba donuts.
Crust Bros is all about personalisation – great tasting pizza exactly the way you want it, with no side order of pretentiousness. Diners opting to make their own can choose between Crust Bros’ classic neapolitan dough or gluten free, before diving in an assortment of sauce, meat, cheese, and veg options – chicken is firmly on the menu but the red line is drawn at pineapple. For those who just can’t make up their mind, Crust Bros have commissioned their very own ‘pizza stylist’ to be on hand for opening day – offering expert guidance to help diners uncover once and for all their forever-pizza. Opening day will also see Crust Bros stage a huge free pizza giveaway between 12pm and 5pm (dine in only).
Diners can also opt for the ‘Fave Pizzas menu’, with some Naples-inspired classics and some Crust Bros signatures – including favourites ‘Straight Outta Hell’ – tomato, mozzarella, chicken, chillies, pepperoni, nduja; ‘Nonna’s Yard’ – tomato, mozzarella, caramelised onions, goat’s cheese, mushrooms, pesto drizzle, and ‘Vegan Harlem Truffle’ – crema tartufata base, vegan mozzarella, mushrooms. Dough is made fresh on site everyday with passers-by looking in to Crust Bros’ chefs making dough balls on the marble counter in the morning. It’s then left to proof for 48-72 hours to create that classic airy, fluffy dough before baking at 450 degrees for that signature charred leopard print crust.
At Crust Bros, the sides and desserts are (almost) as big a deal as the pizza. Created specifically for Covent Garden are a completely unique savoury take on bombas – Italian enriched dough donuts. The ‘Lasagna Bomba’, made with 6h ragu, parmesan, bechamel, and deep fried lasagna sheet is a must try, with the savoury selection also including ‘Nduja Bomba’, with ‘nduja mascarpone and dusted with ‘nduja sugar, and the ‘Blue Cheese Bomba’, gorgonzola, béchemhal, and a parmesan twist. Desserts include a further selection of sweet bombas, choose between nutella, dolce de leche, or lemon zabaglioni – as well as tiramisu and a selection of gelato in collaboration with Covent Garden based La Gelateria.
Cocktails are also set to be an important part of the Crust Bros experience, with an incredible cocktail menu including two creative takes on the classic Italian aperitif – the Negroni. Try the ‘Crust Bros Coffee Negroni’ – Gin, campari, red vermouth, Tia Maria, chocolate bitters, orange twist; before finishing your meal with Crust Bros ‘Negroni Espresso Martini’ – gin, Campari, vermouth, tia maria, coffee. Another set to be signature is the ‘Rhubarb and Pomegranate Caipiroska’ – inspired by the fruit from a pomegranate tree in Positano, encountered by founder Joe on a discovery trip in Southern Italy. Softs include Lavender Lemonade and Kiwi Lemon Soda, and Crust Bros will also be serving beer in frozen tankards – just in time for summer.
