Tangra – the modern Indo-Chinese restaurant in Soho – is turning up the temperature with the launch of “Dial for Heat”, a new spicy dish challenge built around one of its most thoughtfully-spiced creations yet – the Crunchy Sichuan Momo.
From today, brave guests will have the chance to take on the Crunchy Sichuan Momo by calling “999” on the restaurant’s iconic red telephone, with just five minutes to finish five pieces. Winners receive a £25 Tangra gift card and a Polaroid picture of themselves on Tangra’s “Wall of Heat”.
For this challenge only, Tangra has crafted a dish that is as flavourful as it is fiery, with the spiced handmade momo coated in a crisp, golden crumb and served with a Sichuan chilli chutney and burnt chillies. The heat builds in layers, with bird’s eye chilli and Sichuan and Nepalese pepper in the filling, a hotter Sichuan chutney on the side, burnt chillies that add smoky depth, and cayenne-spiced boondi for a final dash of spice
How it works:
Guests simply ask for the Dial for Heat challenge, pick up the red telephone and dial “999” to place their order. The clock starts as the dish arrives with guests given just five minutes to finish it. No drinks are allowed until the challenge is over and the whole dish must be finished, chillies included.
“Dial for Heat” is available Monday to Friday, 12pm-6pm, priced at £20, launching Thursday 15 October at Tangra, 17 Frith St, London W1D 4RG.
