Discover the secrets of the deep at Livat Hammersmith

Hammersmith residents won’t be short on things to do this half-term holiday, as Livat Hammersmith is hosting a series of fun, educational activities for the whole family.

From 24th – 30th October, pop-up space, SOOK, within Livat Hammersmith will be transformed into an “Ocean Explorers Hub” – an immersive space designed to allow families to explore the wonders of the ocean. Visitors will be submerged into an underwater adventure, complete with free interactive and educational activities to teach little ones about the ocean and its magical creatures.

Whether visitors are out for the day or shopping, the Livat Hammersmith Ocean Explorers Hub is designed to inspire parents and children to enjoy time together. As well as educational fun facts and games, children will be able to get hands-on as they play a twist on the iconic ‘Hook the bottle’ game, designed to learn about the impact of plastic waste on the ocean. A craft station will allow families to create Jellyfish lamps and Paper Plaice, all whilst getting hands on with shells and sand in a series of sensory sessions.

Families will also be able to explore the Ocean Explorer trail, allowing children to hunt out different sea creatures hidden in the windows of stores around the meeting place, to be in with the chance of winning an explorer prize bundle from IKEA’s new BLAVINGAD range!

Natalia Petalina, Meeting Place Manager at Livat Hammersmith commented: “At Livat Hammersmith, we want to inspire our visitors to do more than just shop – but to come together to connect, have fun and learn new things in new and exciting ways. Our Ocean Explorers Hub will do just that, offering an immersive and educational space for little ones and parents alike to learn all about the ocean and how we can do more to protect it.”

Livat Hammersmith first opened at the beginning of this year, bringing a little taste of Sweden to Hammersmith. Recent openings include Atelier 100 – a collaboration between Ingka Group and H&M of a unique retail incubator programme for hyper-local designs and products from within 100km of the meeting place – and the Library of Things – a community-powered social enterprise helps people save money and reduce waste by affordably renting out useful items like drills, sound systems and sewing machines.
