Bread Ahead, the iconic London bakery and baking school, is opening the doors of its Borough Market bakery with a new tour designed especially for visiting groups. The 90-minute experience offers a rare chance to go behind the ovens, be inspired and hear the story of Bread Ahead first-hand (whilst also enjoying a plentiful artisan buffet).

Founder Matthew Jones: “Bread Ahead has always been about more than baking — it’s about innovation, team building and community. These new bakery tours give groups the chance to share in that spirit, learn something new, and sit down together to enjoy exceptional food fresh from the ovens.”

The experience includes an introduction and guided tour of the Borough bakery, an inspiring talk from Jones on the Bread Ahead journey and the innovations shaping the baking world today, followed by a buffet table laden with viennoiserie, sourdough, sausage rolls and seasonal fruit. And, of course, no Bread Ahead visit is complete without a doughnut — so each guest will take home one of the bakery’s famous doughnuts in the flavour of their choice.

Bread Ahead’s story is rooted in Borough Market. Opening in 2013 with a modest stall, Bread Ahead was among the first to bring back a fresh take on the great British baking classics — simple, honest recipes elevated with craft and care. From those beginnings, it has grown into six UK bakeries, a celebrated baking school, and a global brand with twelve bakeries across the Middle East and two more set to open in the Philippines this year. Europe and America are firmly on the horizon.

At the heart of Bread Ahead lies teaching. The Baking School at Borough has inspired thousands of home bakers since its launch, offering hands-on workshops that celebrate craft and skill while encouraging the bakers of tomorrow. The new group tours are a natural extension of that mission: to welcome people in, share knowledge generously, and connect Bread Ahead’s ever-growing community of bakers and enthusiasts from around the world.
