DISNEY AND PIXAR LAUNCH ‘ELIO’S INTERGALACTIC MESSAGE POD’ IN LONDON
Disney and Pixar’s ‘Elio’s Intergalactic Message Pod’ has arrived in London. The cosmic-inspired Message Pod is located at Observation Point on London’s Southbank to celebrate the release of Disney & Pixar’s Elio, exclusively in cinemas from Friday 20th June.
The Elio Message Pod invites members of the public to record their very own message to space and reach for the stars with their boldest questions, or to simply share a bit about themselves. Whilst we couldn’t promise a reply from the stars, all visitors are invited to come down and join the adventure — and maybe even enjoy a little self-discovery along the way.
All messages are being collated and will be broadcast through Earth’s atmosphere, beyond the 62-mile-high Kármán line, and into outer space using very high frequency (VHF) radio waves in the 40-50MHz range, meaning participants will become part of astronomical history as their messages travel through space and time. The messages will be sent to space on Friday 20th June – the same date that the Elio releases in cinemas.
Entry was free because space has no currency, and following the recording of their message, guests were able to take a space-themed photo, as a further memento of the day.
The cosmic booth will be displayed to the public in Leicester Square on Sunday 15th June at the below times:
Open to the public: 11am – 12.45pm
Open to the public: 2.15pm – 3pm
For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film “Elio,” the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be. Directed by Madeline Sharafian (“Burrow” Sparkshort), Domee Shi (“Bao” short, “Turning Red”) and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of “Coco”), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of “Coco”), the film features the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO. “Elio” releases in cinemas June 20, 2025.
