DISRUPTIVE PROTEST TAKES OVER LONDON AS NEW BLACK MIRROR GAME LAUNCHES

The Prime Minister, City Workers and the Conservative Party were among those yesterday targeted in a disruptive stunt by the team behind a new Black Mirrors Careers immersive group experience.

The stunts turned heads as one slogan was unveiled near number 10 asking “Job prospects nosediving into the red, Rishi? Maybe time to consider a new career…” and pointing him towards a new ‘careers website’.

Outside St Thomas’ Hospital slogans suggesting nurses may be looking at new careers received a rapturous reception.

The stunt comes as Immersive Gamebox launches their new Black Mirrors Careers offering across the UK. The themed immersive gaming experience explores a dystopian future in which AI has rendered your job obsolete. The game puts you to the test, taking on challenges and facing judgment together to see who is destined for life as a door-to-door NFT salesperson? A human pet for advanced AI? A security guard for the last tree in the Amazon?

The stunt also saw an explosive battle between Just Stop AI protestors, led by Zuck Markerberg – a super-rich anti-capitalist Frenchman determined to protest the onslaught of AI, fronted by Elon Von Percent, a libertarian Swiss billionaire, and his Black Mirror Careers company.

The battle culminated in a slew of Just Stop AI protestors launching orange paint at the Black Mirror Careers Centre (Immersive Gamebox’s Shoreditch venue), with a fake arrest of both Elon Von Percent and Zuck Markerberg.

In each location where the digital messages were displayed on vans, the Just Stop AI protestors were there to disrupt: waving placards, lying in the road and blaring anarchic music. Markerberg and Von Percent, and their opposing tribes, were a parody of the polarised debate we are seeing in today’s world and the self-righteousness of those on both sides – a point illustrated not too subtly by the fact both fictitious characters are played by the same person: real-life Immersive Gamebox Founder and CEO Will Dean.

Created in partnership with media and entertainment powerhouse Banijay, the team behind the hit sci-fi TV series Black Mirror, Black Mirror Careers uses Immersive Gamebox’s unique technology, which includes projection mapping, 3D motion tracking and surround sound, to fully immerse players into the experience.

As part of today’s stunt, Immersive Gamebox tapped into the anarchic spirit that made the series a household name, as vans unveiling controversial digital slogans appeared in a host of locations across London.

In Parliament Square troubled Tory MP’s were greeted with: “Facing redundancy this May? Time to look for a new career…”

City workers at Canary Wharf were warned: “City workers – you can forget your bonuses. AI is coming for your jobs.”

The new subversive Black Mirror Careers immersive experience claims it will ‘help those smart enough to invest in their future” – what will be the next exciting step in their professional journey and, ultimately, their new role in society?

Those interested are invited to “Step inside the Gamebox and enrol in Black Mirror Careers’ assessment programme, participating in a series of precisely calibrated tests and challenges designed to measure each participant’s reasoning, communication and leadership skills.” Challenges include mazes, shape-building and ‘3D virtual paddleball’.

Immersive Gamebox founder and CEO Will Dean said: “Black Mirror Careers gives both fans of the TV show and people new to the concept a chance to experience a fully imagined dystopian universe in a fun and exciting way.”

Dean adds: “From the disruptive van messaging seen around London yesterday to the chaotic Just Stop AI protests, one thing is clear to see: AI is a controversial topic and one that society is intrigued, threatened and thrilled by. Black Mirrors Careers explores those concepts, with a thought-provoking and fun twist that we think audiences will love.”

“Immersive Gamebox’s mission is to bring people together through shared play, which we feel is a perfect tonic to the increased isolation and polarisation we are currently seeing in society, represented by the battle between Elon Von Percent and Zuck Markerberg, and their opposing organisations.”

Dean notes we can expect to see more of his Von Percent and Markerberg characters in the coming weeks.

Black Mirror Careers will be available to play at six locations – London Southbank, London Shoreditch, Gravity Wandsworth, Gravity One – Liverpool, Gravity Xscape – Yorkshire, Manchester Arndale and Lakeside, Essex – from February 27.
