Distraught owner appeals for help to locate beloved missing dog
A DISTRAUGHT dog owner is appealing for help in locating her Chihuahua called Piglet who went missing during a burglary.
The mystery over his disappearance was recently covered on GB News, and in the national media
Mel Clements has been searching for Piglet since he vanished on 28 March last year while he was on a small canal boat moored at Copper Mill Lock on the Grand Union canal in Harefield, north-west London.
She was visiting a friend and Piglet had been on the boat for around two hours when a thief broke in to steal an electric scooter.
In a panic after hearing the smashing glass, it is believed that Piglet jumped off the boat and took off along the canal towpath.
When Mel arrived back at the boat and saw the damage and realised Piglet was missing, she decided to head along the towpath in the opposite direction she had come, believing that was the route that Piglet had taken.
After approximately 10 to 15 minutes, Mel says she met a cyclist, a man who gave his name as “Matt”.
He said to her that he had just seen Piglet running off in the opposite direction and had chased him on his bike.
But Piglet had bolted under some gates near a waterworks and the man said he could not get to Piglet.
He then offered to show Mel exactly where he had last seen her dog, and the two of them set off on foot to the location but there was no sign of Piglet.
Mel has recently engaged the service of a professional pet detective, named Colin Butcher, who believes that the man was in fact misleading Mel and taking her in the wrong direction.
“Matt” is described as being in his late 20s, slim, about 5’ 8”, with a pale complexion and fair hair.
He was wearing a rucksack on his back, and claimed that he cycled along the towpath every single day, and Mel recalls he may have had a stutter. This man is a person of interest to the investigation.
With Colin’s help two witnesses have recently been traced who say they spotted Piglet at 5.30pm the afternoon he went missing while walking their own dog on Park Lane. They stated that Piglet emerged from the gates on Royal Quay, at the bottom of Park Lane.
They followed him and attempted to catch him but Piglet managed to escape and was last seen running onto the bridge where Park lane meets Copper Mill Lane.
Mel explained: Piglet, he’s my boy, he’s the love of my life he’s my reason for being.
She added ‘The help I need is for people to look out for Piglet. Somebody must know something, anything.
The smallest bit of information could be relevant. Please come forward. Help me find Piglet’.
A JustGiving appeal has been set up to help Mel’s search:
