DLD College London Students Commended for Chemistry Challenge Success
Scientific students at DLD College London have been presented with prestigious accolades in recognition of their outstanding success in a duo of national chemistry challenges, awarded by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the University of Cambridge.
Year 12 students Anya and Michelle were commended for their exceptional efforts in the annual Royal Society of Chemistry Schools’ Analyst Competition, which saw them put their knowledge and skills on the subject to the test. The talented two excelled as a team to solve chemical problems involving both mathematical and chemical skills, during the arduous three-hour challenge.
The hotly anticipated Schools’ Analyst Competition enables competing students across the UK to showcase and develop their current chemistry knowledge, aptitude and skills for analytical science through practical analytical experiments.
In further successes for the subject, four students from the multi-award-winning school have been celebrated for their achievements in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, securing one gold award and three copper awards. Set by a team of experienced teachers and university chemists, the challenge takes Year 12 students over and above the syllabus, encouraging them to think scientifically at a university level.
DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif, who is a Chemist himself with a BSc Chemistry from King’s College London, commented: “We are incredibly proud of our high-achieving students for their accomplishments in these esteemed academic challenges; it is always a pleasure to celebrate their successes. Our students have showcased remarkable determination, resilience and aptitude throughout this process, as they relish the opportunity to challenge their interest in the subject and take their learning far beyond the curriculum in preparation for further study.”
DLD College London will be opening its doors to Year 9 students from September 2023, with a pioneering new curriculum central to the offering. To find out more, visit: www.dldcollege.co.uk/academic/college-courses/year9/
