DLD Students Celebrate Mathematics Challenge Success

Experience the world through Monet’s eyes with Frameless this winter, as a new artwork, ‘Boat on the Seine near Jeufosse’, is unveiled at the UK’s largest immersive art experience. Through a new partnership with acclaimed visual effects and animation studio, Cinesite, the Frameless creative team has taken a cinematic approach to remastering the artwork, allowing visitors to feel the art more than ever before.

Following months of collaboration, the first brand new piece to be added to the Frameless experience since launch last year, will be introduced in time for Boxing Day in Frameless’ largest gallery The World Around Us. The curation team selected the Monet as they felt it was a relatively unknown piece that deserved to be celebrated. The stunning autumnal scene close to Jeufosse, a picturesque village close to his residence at Giverny, has been meticulously brought to life by world class visual effects artists as Hollywood style effects are unleashed on the immersive art space for the first-time, enabling visitors to fully immerse themselves in the tranquility of the masterpiece.

The animated artworks have been crafted by CG artists using their innate understanding of light, colour and movement, combined with innovative visual effects and cinematography. The visuals have been paired with bespoke sound designs to create stunning atmospheric, moving panoramas, in a way that heightens all the senses.

Mesmerised by an emotive, classical soundscape, visitors will find themselves transfixed by the six-screen projection as they witness the seasonal transformation of the landscape as Monet would have. With maintaining the integrity of the artwork paramount, the team was obsessive about every brushstroke of the original throughout the process. Animators from some of the world’s biggest movies were engaged with specialists from areas including water and motion enabling the 19th Century impressionist masterpiece to live and breathe. From the rippling water and the paddling of the oars to the light shimmering on the water and butterflies fluttering across the meadows, the team was committed to bringing to life the serene scene from the Seine as if the artist was there.

Frameless Creative Director Ryan ‘Woody’ Atwood explains, “as one of Monet’s lesser known works this artwork has always been for me a really underrated piece, and one that has rarely been spoken about, so we knew we’d be introducing many of our visitors to it for the first time. We’ve been obsessing about retaining the nuances of the original from the serenity of the landscape to the incredible lighting effect that Monet achieved with his brushstrokes, all working together to provide a rare moment of reflection in an often-chaotic world. Front of mind throughout the creative process has been imagining just what Monet was thinking when he created this masterpiece and how he wanted the work to make people feel.”

The piece follows on from a recently upgraded, more cinematic version of one of Frameless’ most popular pieces, a Rembrandt. Designed with the audience’s emotional journey at its heart, the Monet takes them into a state of calm after the more highly charged emotional and adventurous seascape of Rembrandt. Over the coming months the creative team will continue to meticulously upgrade some of Frameless London’s most popular works and introduce new pieces into the galleries.

Frameless’ four permanent multi-sensory galleries will connect you with the artist’s imagination like never before, showcasing more than 90 minutes of hypnotic visuals set to a dazzling score. Visitors will experience 42 masterpieces from iconic artists from Van Gogh to Dalí, each expertly reimagined through cutting-edge digital technology to break free from the confines of a frame.

Alongside the four immersive galleries, the Frameless experience includes an art-inspired Café Bar and Gift Shop brimming with treasures. The Café Bar is open all day with an ever-evolving menu, providing a stunning setting for a bite to eat and drink.
