DLD’s Global Citizens Combat Climate Change in Academic Competition

Students at DLD College London have showcased their passion and commitment to being global citizens, contending in a highly competitive Winter Essay challenge focused around the climate emergency and the COP 26 conference.

As part of the challenge, students at the multi-award-winning school were invited to put forward an opinion on the topical question, ‘To what extent will the COP26 agreements and policies be successful in fulfilling the conference goals and solving climate emergency?’. Students put their analytical and evaluation skills to the test to determine how successful the policies established during the conference will be in meeting the initial goals set out prior to COP26.

Many insightful and thought-provoking submissions were received, exhibiting the curiosity and academic strength of the students as they highlight climate change.

DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif commented, “Our school community here at DLD is hugely passionate about climate change and it was inspiring to see the strong entries submitted for our Winter Essay competition around this exceptionally important topic. The students’ analyses portrayed the community-centred nature of our school, while demonstrating the College’s values of tolerance, respect and kindness for the global population, as we strive to develop the next generation of leaders to take their place in a challenging and diverse world.

“The competition also presented our students with a unique learning opportunity to develop their research and essay-writing skills, along with those of analysis and evaluation. Key skills which are of the utmost importance when students sit external exams and as they enter the next stage of their academic career – university.”
