East Ham German Doner Kebab Delivers Free Meals to Frontline NHS Workers at Homerton Hospital
Popular gourmet kebab restaurant chain, German Doner Kebab, has started delivering free meals to NHS workers in London.
In partnership with Deliveroo, East Ham German Doner Kebab made its first delivery of 100 meals to frontline NHS staff at Homerton Hospital.
The meal deliveries are part of the brand’s national pledge to contribute 30,000 free meals to NHS workers and vulnerable people who are unable to leave their homes.
East Ham German Doner Kebab staff showed their love for the amazing and selfless frontline workers by drawing hearts on the delivery bags.
German Doner Kebab has 41 restaurants throughout the country and 17 across London. The fast-casual chain is backing the campaign as part of its ongoing commitment to support communities and frontline staff during the Coronavirus response.
German Doner Kebab worked closely with Deliveroo to decide which freshly prepared options from its delicious menu would be suitable for NHS workers and vulnerable people who are unable to leave their homes.
The fast-casual restaurant chain’s 30,000 free meal contribution will be made available where both German Doner Kebab and Deliveroo provide coverage. Deliveroo will lead this logistical effort and will respond to requests from NHS sites.
Deliveroo is set to make a total of 500,000 meals available for free to NHS workers.
The UK’s leading food delivery company will also be fundraising to support this campaign, raising funds from corporate and individual donations. Deliveroo will be enabling customers to contribute through the app, so they can send hard-working doctors, nurses and volunteers a meal.
Imran Sayed, GDK CEO, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we’ve now started delivery of our free GDK meals to NHS workers on the frontline.
“This a brilliant initiative we’re so proud to be part of and we hope we bring some happiness to every amazing NHS worker that receives a GDK delivery from Deliveroo.
“We’re glad that our GDK family can play a part in helping the country during this time and seeing the response so far has been truly heart-warming, we can’t thank the NHS enough for the heroic work they are doing to get us through the Covid-19 crisis.”
