East London Social Worker Wins National Award for ‘Caring and Positive Attitude’

A Social worker from Beckton has won a national award for her support to women hospitalised with mental health needs after colleagues praised her ‘caring’ and ‘positive’ attitude.

Halila Rasheed-Insuah, Social Worker and Safeguarding Administrator at Cygnet Hospital Beckton, won the Social Work Assistant of the year award at the Cygnet Social Work Awards for her exceptional skills in caring for women with mental health needs.
Judges deemed that her actions that have created real impact and change and that she goes above and beyond the expectations of her job role. They said she had evidence a positive impact on the women being cared for.
On receiving her award Halila said: “I feel amazed and honoured.

“I just can’t believe it! I am so filled with happiness and joy. I would like to thank the team at Cygnet Hospital Beckton for nominating me.

“This means so much to me as I have worked hard for two years! So this award means everything as my hard work has not gone unnoticed.

“I love the atmosphere at Cygnet Hospital Beckton, it feels like a family. I enjoy meeting new patients and spending time with them. Seeing where they started and how they progress brings such joy to my work. I just love making a positive change and learning along the way.”

Nominating her for the award, her colleagues said: “Halila is a hard working social work assistant who goes beyond her role to help others. Her drive and compassion for patient care doesn’t go unnoticed.

“She consistently demonstrates a remarkable ability to empower others through her Social Work. Her working style is engaging, informative, and tailored to the specific needs of the patient.

“She offers unwavering support to her colleagues. She is always approachable, willing to lend an ear, and provides guidance when needed. Her positive attitude and encouragement create a supportive environment where patients feel valued and motivated.

“She goes above and beyond in order to support her colleagues. Halila is always willing to take time out of her busy schedule to offer support to her colleagues and the multidisciplinary team, exemplifying true commitment to her profession.

“She engages with the patients appropriately and appears to have good rapport with both patients and colleagues.

“Halila is an integral part of the social work team at Cygnet Hospital Beckton.”

Cygnet Hospital Beckton, on Tunnan Leys, is a 58- bed mental health facility for women.
