Contrary to earlier reports, Mercato Metropolitano Elephant & Castle is open and will continue trading until the end of 2026, with further announcements about the site’s future expected early next year.

Mercato Metropolitano’s flagship Elephant & Castle market has confirmed it is open and trading as usual – and will continue to do so in 2026 – as it announces a brand-new New Year’s Eve celebration: ‘The Big E&C NYE Party’, taking place from 7pm–2am on Wednesday 31 December.
The multi-zone New Year’s Eve takeover will transform the entire marketplace into one huge party venue, with food, drinks, live entertainment, and four distinct musical areas offering something for every kind of partygoer:
Club de Fromage: The UK’s biggest pop party will be hosting in the main Piazza space – expect throwback anthems, guilty pleasures and feel-good classics.
About Last Night presents Urban Festive: The best in urban, R&B, and hip-hop will be soundtracking the German Kraft Bar, with a range of DJs and live musicians to enjoy.
House of Disco: Egg & Keg Room will be filled with glitter, groove and disco favourites all night long, courtesy of House of Disco.
Karaoke: Sing-along moments await in TAM, the Temple of Art and Music, for those ready to steal the spotlight.
Guests with tickets can move freely between all four entertainment zones, while Mercato Metropolitano’s independent food traders serve global dishes late into the night and bars pour cocktails, wines and craft beers as the venue counts down to midnight.
Tickets are available now* at a discounted rate of £10 in advance, with £15 tickets available on the door. Guests without tickets are still welcome to enter Mercato Metropolitano on New Year’s Eve to enjoy food and drink, but ticketed access is required for entry to the entertainment areas and full NYE programme.
Alongside the New Year’s Eve celebrations, Mercato Metropolitano is reinforcing that the Elephant & Castle site remains open, with its much-loved independent traders, events and community programming continuing in 2026.
