Esports makes Royal Albert Hall debut as Hera and MarineLorD win Red Bull Wololo: Londinium

After six days of high-stakes competition, MarineLorD and Hera have been crowned champions at Red Bull Wololo: Londinium, a major international esports event centred on the classic strategy game Age of Empires.

Held across some of London’s most recognisable venues, the tournament brought together 12 of the world’s top players to compete for a $250,000 prize pool in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV.

The tournament came to an end yesterday in a sold out Grand Final at the Royal Albert Hall, the first time the iconic venue has hosted an esports competition. In a unique twist, the final matches were accompanied by a live 60-piece orchestra performing music from the game, creating a cinematic experience for the 3,000 fans in attendance and viewers watching worldwide.

Champions:

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition: Hera
Age of Empires IV: MarineLorD
Matches took place across the city between 1-6 April 2026, from early rounds at the White Rabbit in Shoreditch to playoff battles at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, building up to the historic final. The event also introduced new in-game maps, which will be released to players globally.

Blending elite competition, historic venues and live musical performance, Red Bull Wololo: Londinium stands as the most ambitious edition of the tournament to date, and sets a new benchmark for Age of Empires esports.
