Essential sight and hearing clinic will change lives for people in crisis

The team at Specsavers Bexleyheath are supporting people experiencing homelessness through a mix of free care and festive fundraising this December.
In partnership with Bexley Winter Shelter, Bexley Women’s Aid and Emmaus Greenwich, the store will host a special out-of-hours clinic on Tuesday 9 December at the Bexleyheath store, offering free eye and ear health checks to people experiencing homelessness.
Running from 6pm to 8pm, the clinic will provide a quieter and more comfortable space for people in need to access essential services, including sight tests, OCT scans, glasses, hearing checks, wax removal and hearing devices, delivered by the store’s team of optometrists and audiologists.
Later in the week, the community spirit will continue as the teams swap their uniforms for something a little more festive during their Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 11 December, continuing the partnership with and raising funds for the three charities.
The event will see the store fundraising to help make a difference to people in the community who are experiencing homelessness. Customers are invited to visit the store on the day and donate if they wish.
Wouter De Wit, Retail Director at Specsavers Bexleyheath, says: ‘Everyone deserves access to good sight and hearing care, no matter their situation. By partnering with these
incredible charities, we’re able to reach people who might otherwise struggle to access these essential services, offering them a comfortable, welcoming space to get the help they need.
‘Our team wanted to do something meaningful this winter, combining practical support with a bit of festive fun to raise awareness and funds for an important cause that’s close to our hearts.’
