Fans face hotel hikes of up to 112.92% to see Harry Styles perform in Wembley

Hotel costs have risen by up to 112.92% when Harry Styles tours in London in 2023, according to the latest study by personal insolvency provider, Creditfix.

Creditfix researched 20 of the biggest musicians touring the UK in 2023, to find out how much hotels may be hiking their prices for fans travelling to see the stars performing.

After Eurovision tickets sold out in just 36 minutes, Creditfix data also found that the current average cost of a night’s stay in Liverpool during the contest is £1,019 – up from £270 a week before.

The average hotel inflation for some of the world’s biggest stars:

1 – Coldplay – 227%

2 – Bruce Springsteen – 135%

3 – P!NK – 132%

4 – Beyoncé – 122%

5 – Harry Styles – 112%

6 – Red Hot Chilli Peppers – 107%

7 – Arctic Monkeys – 99%

8 – The Weeknd – 99.2%

9 – Stormzy – 62%

10 – Madonna – 61%

Out of all the artists, Harry Styles came 5th with the average price for the night being £419 but prices surged the most in Wembley, London.

Overall, hotels increased their prices the most around Coldplay (227%), Bruce Springsteen (135%), P!NK (132%) and Beyoncé (122%).

Coupled with the soaring price of concert tickets and everyday essentials, the cost of a concert could be a catalyst for debt – especially as more people turn to buy now, pay later providers to spread costs.

More than 17 million people turned to buy now, pay later services in the UK last year, with 32% of Brits saying it allowed them to make purchases not typically in their budget.

Layla Johnson, regional manager at Creditfix, said: “It’s not surprising that hotels may be hiking up their prices to this extent in order to cater to the increased demand in their location. Fans may expect to pay extra in order to stay near stadiums and arenas, but some of the price rises will be simply unaffordable for many.

“When you’re keen to see your favourite star performing, it might be tempting to turn to credit cards or loans, but they can be a high risk if you haven’t already got the funds to pay it back which might inflict unwanted money pressures.

“If you are feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to reach out to gain support as there are many solutions available for you to get advice.”
