Fashion and homeware retailer, TOAST to join the King’s Cross 2023 Christmas markets line-up

The much-loved Christmas markets are returning to King’s Cross this festive season! Between Thursday 9 November and Saturday 23 December 2023, a stellar line-up of eight incredible Christmas markets will be popping up across the neighbourhood, each offering a vast array of exceptional gifts from independent homeware, fashion, beauty, food, arts and crafts brands.

Headlining the line-up – and new for 2023 – is the well-known lifestyle retailer, TOAST which will be bringing its festive market to Coal Drops Yard. Celebrating creativity and craftsmanship, the TOAST market will provide a platform for the makers who have collaborated with the brand, both past and present. Visitors will be able to find considerate and sustainable gifts in line with the brand’s aim of inspiring a more thoughtful way of life.

In addition to more than 100 shops and restaurants in the King’s Cross neighbourhood, the markets will put the magic back into the build-up of Christmas, helping shoppers find the perfect gifts for their loved ones without the usual last-minute pressure. Visitors can glide from stall to stall in an idyllic, traffic-free wonderland away from the usual hustle and bustle.

This year’s full Christmas market line-up includes:

Canopy Market Lates – 9 November – 14 December – West Handyside Canopy

King’s Cross’ famous Canopy Market will be holding late-night shopping every Thursday from 9 November to 14 December. The ‘lates’ will run until 9pm each week so visitors can bag the perfect Christmas presents for friends and family, choosing from an eclectic array of unique and artisan gifts, all whilst enjoying live music and some of London’s best street food and drink that Canopy Market can offer.

Lower Stable Street Market Lates – 9 November – 14 December– Lower Stable Street

Lower Stable Street’s Market Lates will be running until 9pm every Thursday from 9 November to 14 December, where visitors can find one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts alongside visitor favourites such as Roseur and House of Cans.

TOAST Festive Market– 16 November – 17 December – Coal Drops Yard

In the lead-up to Christmas, British lifestyle brand TOAST will take over the ramp down to Coal Drops Yard and into Lower Stable Street. Visitors will find a curation of distinctive, handcrafted gifts across 12 stalls, from ceramics and textiles to candles, jewellery and stationery. Ten stalls are dedicated to TOAST collaborators including jewellers, Corrie Williamson and Sally Lacock, ceramic artist, Ali Hewson and leather worker, Francli Craftwear, to name a few. The remaining two stalls will offer gifts from TOAST’s own collection.

Running alongside the market will be maker demonstrations and festive displays, as well as a programme of workshops at creative hub, Kiosk N1C on 2 December. The market will run from Thursday to Sunday each week.

Christmas under the Canopy – 23 November – 23 December – West Handyside Canopy

This ever-popular covered market, which usually runs Friday through to Sunday, is being extended so that its brilliant line-up of London’s best artisan traders and food stalls can be enjoyed Tuesday through to Sunday in the lead-up to Christmas. Wander under a canopy of stars and festive lights and warm yourself up with some mulled wine or cider whilst enjoying the sounds of live music playing as you find the perfect gift for loved ones.

Mexican Christmas Market – 1 – 3 December – Coal Drops Yard

Hosted by Coal Drops Yard restaurants, Casa Pastor and Plaza Pastor, the Mexican Christmas Market returns for another year, offering fun for all the family with piñatas and a roaming cumbia band, as well as artisanal Mexican clothing, accessories, ornaments and craftworks from independent artists and designers. This is the ideal opportunity to find a Mexican-inspired gift for a loved one this Christmas.

Illustrators Festive Fair – 9 December – The Crossing

London’s largest illustration fair is back for the festive season! Browse works from some of the best local independent artists, as well as collections of prints, cards, zines and more.

Crafty Cub Market – 10 December – The Crossing

Introducing the Crafty Cub Market at the Crossing in King’s Cross – a brand new concept from the team behind the Crafty Fox Market! The perfect place to pick up gifts for the little people in your family, expect handmade clothing, toys and art prints, plus gifts suitable for teens too. There will also be craft workshops on offer throughout the day, where kids can make their own embossed foil decorations or take part in card making, printing and a ‘worry blob’ workshop with Ceramic Biscuit.

Crafty Fox Christmas Market – 16 – 17 December – The Crossing

Renowned for supporting emerging designers, makers and artists, the Crafty Fox Christmas Market is making its return to King’s Cross. Visitors can experience a stellar Christmas gifting line-up that will include prints, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and homewares.

With plenty of unique products on offer, the markets form part of another extraordinary Christmas in King’s Cross. This year, the shopping, eating and drinking hotspot will be transformed into an alpine wonderland. Visitors can explore the markets after enjoying a game at the much-loved Club Curling, which returns to Coal Drops Yard from 9 November 2023 along with a bar and new for 2023, a series of exciting live DJ sets each Thursday (9 November – 14 December) at the new Thursday Lates, King’s Cross’ first ever late-night shopping event.

Coal Drops Yard will see the return of a 50-foot Christmas tree wrapped in 15,000 low-power lights – three times as many as last year. Liliane Lijn’s ‘Temenos’ will return to Lewis Cubitt Square in November and a brand new art installation on Granary Square is set to be unveiled in the run up to Christmas.
