On Thursday 22nd September, as London Fashion Week comes to a close, WeAreWaterloo will bring together a panel of young artists and designers to explore gender identity and self-expression within the context of fashion.

The talk and workshop, held at the newly renovated Morley Gallery, are part of the PowWow Waterloo debate series – a sell-out programme designed to create safe spaces for challenging conversations.

‘Fashion has No Gender’ will begin with a workshop led by artist and storyteller Kidda Kinsey. Participants will be encouraged to tell their own story of identity and gender by ‘playful painting’ onto umbrellas. This will help instigate conversations around the value (and danger) of umbrella terms and buzzwords for gender.

After the workshop, Saffron Cann (a South London based illustrator) and Kito Bamba (a Trans and non-binary artist) will join Kidda to lead an informal panel discussion on gender and self-expression. This will focus on how language and art can be powerful in helping to affirm identity, boost confidence and encourage authenticity.
