First Free Interactive Body-Movement Installation Launches today

Today, the first free-to-experience interactive body-movement artwork launches to the public at Outernet London. As visitors move so will the digital screens, making the artwork truly immersive. Visitors will benefit from a multi-sensory experience of art that pulls them away from everyday distractions and activity. The installation opens at the Outernet London, the most advanced immersive space in the world in the heart of London, near Tottenham Court Road on 9th February and will run until September.

‘Spaces In-Between’ consists of three artworks, ‘Tessellations’ and ‘Transcendence’, that will transport visitors through a digital natural world, and ‘A Step Beyond’ an interactive experience where geometric shapes respond to every move of the body. Accompanying audio by British composer Sarah Warne (Channel 4’s Humans, BBC’s Time and ITV’s Des) enhance the feeling of being totally enveloped in a full-body experience.

Implemented by Pixel Artworks, artist Rupert Newman’s creative will come to life across the entire Outernet district, the largest digital exhibition space in Europe, from the Now Arcade – a 21-meter-long LED tunnel, through to the Now Trending and the Now Building – four storey high, 360 degree wraparound LED screens.

Visual light artist Rupert Newman said: “Through being immersed in fracturing light people can find harmony and balance. Working with such a large space has given me freedom to create at scale for thousands to experience. The result is captivating.”

Dan Alldis, Innovation Lead at Pixel Artworks, co-creators of ‘Spaces In-Between’ said: “Nothing brings us more joy than creating experiences that enable people to take a moment away from the constant hustle and bustle of their everyday lives. Spaces In-Between proves that breathtaking art can be accessible to everyone and experienced in the most unlikely spaces such as in the heart of busy central London. It is an open invitation for anyone to explore a non-traditional art form in a non-traditional way for free.”

Alexandra Payne, Head of Creative at Outernet London added “London is often revered as the UK’s creative capital, but not enough people have the opportunity to experience world-class art for free. This experience aims to change that. Everyone is welcome to indulge their creativity at the first interactive and fully immersive installation at Outernet London.”

The experience will be shown Weekdays 12pm – 2pm, 5pm – 7pm, 8pm-10pm and Saturdays 12pm – 6pm, 8pm – 10pm.
